“One of one hundred” is a limited edition book of one hundred exemplars. In 2003, New York artist Kris Ruhs created fifteen original works of art, using oil on paper and black and off-white colors. All works measure 250 cm by 250 cm and are composed by 100 pieces of 25 cm by 25 cm. Every exemplar of “One of One Hundred” contains one piece from each of the fifteen original works of art, and the correspondent photograph to document them in their entirety. Taking stance against the obsolete notion of “aura” of a work of art, Kris Ruhs decomposes his works in 100 books to share them with the public, allowing the viewer to hold them in the hands.
